Trump says US wants to make tanks, not T-shirts

In New Jersey on May 25, President Donald Trump emphasized that his tariff policy would prioritize domestic production of advanced military and technological equipment—such as tanks, AI systems, and ships—over low-value textile goods like sneakers and T-shirts, which he said could be manufactured abroad. He postponed proposed EU tariffs until July 9 to allow negotiations, while his trade stance continues to push American manufacturing at the expense of consumer prices.
